The Treasure Hunt project is a series of postcards that are regularly provided by the creative agency, Tonidigrigio (Jesi, Italy) to the nearby airport of Falconara. Through this initiative, the studio invites travellers to enlarge their knowledge of the touristic offer from the visiting destination and to delve into its wealth.
Each edition consists of 5 postcards and each postcard is dedicated to the one of the cities with a flight connection to Falconara. The worth of discovering spots represent their cities with a short description and, if necessary, with a map. In this way Tonidigrigio gives to the travellers a sort of a treasure map.
This edition was carried out with the subject ‘Flora and Fauna’. After doing the research of a dozen possible cities, I found some interesting suggestions worth of being recommended for tourists. Those are: Rabbits – Berlin, Toothbrush Tree – Sharm El-Sheikh, Wild Berries – Riga, Green Parrots – Dusseldorf, Myrth – Cagliari.
By choosing the style, I took an inspiration from Henri Matisse’s pictures of the Cut-Outs series. The images created with the usage of this technique are very expressive. Also my intention was to receive the illustrations with a similar visual strength. At the same time, it was important to represent the topic only with the usage of the basic forms without illustrating the details. Basic shapes – it is what connects each edition of this project and this is how I have interpreted this rule.
